Associated with the urinary organs, interstitial cystitis is a condition that is characterized by inflammation of the walls of the urinary bladder. That is why it is also referred to as painful bladder syndrome and results in reduced capacity of the bladder to hold urine. That is why the patient feels urgent and frequent need to urinate.
This condition is indicated by pain in the pelvic region, painful urination, pain during sexual activity, feeling of pressure in the area amid anus and vagina in women and amid anus and scrotum in women. There is pain in the sexual organs as well.
